Field hockey coaches now have their own shelf in the drill library, with eight drills your players can watch before they run them. Find them all on the field hockey drills page.
What is on the shelf
- Push pass and receive in pairs, on the open side and the reverse, to start every session.
- Leading and receiving and the give-and-go, for getting free and getting past a defender.
- A 2v1 to the circle and shooting from the top of the circle, with somebody on the far post for the rebound.
- Channelling defence, for showing an attacker onto their reverse instead of diving in.
- The free hit outside the circle and the penalty corner, from the injection to the strike.
Every player in the animations wears their position, from GK to CF, and at the penalty corner the injector, trapper and striker wear IN, TR and ST. Each drill has the setup, the coaching points, how to make it harder, and the rule it is practising, from the shooting circle and the 5 m rule to obstruction and the back of the stick. Where junior formats play it differently, the drill says so and points you to your association's rules.
Put them in a practice plan
Press Add to a practice plan on any drill, or pick field hockey in the practice plan maker. The drills come with their time and the one thing to say, and they print on your run sheet. If you have an account, Add a drill in Sessions lists them too.
