About this play
Barbarians v New Zealand, Cardiff Arms Park, 27 January 1973. The move began with Phil Bennett sidestepping out of his own 22 and ran the length of the field; this drawing covers its last phase only. Tom David feeds Derek Quinnell on the left, Quinnell runs on and passes, and Gareth Edwards arrives at full pace on his inside shoulder to take it and dive in at the left corner. It is the support line that makes it: Edwards is already running when the pass is thrown.
