About this play

The pattern behind Leicester City's Premier League title in 2015-16 under Claudio Ranieri. N'Golo Kanté wins the ball in midfield, gives it straight to Riyad Mahrez on the right, and Mahrez slides it in behind for Jamie Vardy, who has set off on the shoulder of the last defender before the pass is made. It works because the opponents are caught pushed up in possession, and Vardy's run starts the instant the ball is won rather than once it reaches Mahrez.
