About this play
The answer to the first runner, used by every side with a feared drag-flicker. The corner starts like a straight drag flick: the ball is injected, stopped at the top of the circle and the flicker shapes to shoot. As the first runner and the goalkeeper commit to the flick, the flicker slips it wide to a team-mate who has run to the left post for a deflection. It works only because the flick is a real threat; the defence has to treat every corner as the shot.
