About this play
The modern way out of a high press. With the forwards pressing the back line, a defender lifts the ball high over them into the space behind, where a forward has run to meet it. The rules help the receiver: an opponent may not be within five metres of the player receiving a falling aerial until it is controlled. Three pressing players are taken out by one pass, and the forward can feed a team-mate running into the circle before the defence turns round.
