About this play

From John Wooden's high-post offence at UCLA, which won ten NCAA titles in twelve seasons from 1964. The guard passes to the wing, then cuts off a back screen from the big at the high post and runs straight to the basket for the return pass. It works because the guard's defender is watching the ball move to the wing at the moment the screen is set, and the cut leaves him on the wrong side of the screener.
