About this play

NFC divisional play-off, 28 December 1975, Dallas trailing Minnesota 14-10 with under half a minute left and the ball at midfield. Roger Staubach, in the shotgun, pump-faked to his left to hold safety Paul Krause, then threw deep down the right side to Drew Pearson, who caught it against Nate Wright at about the 5 and went in. Staubach said afterwards he had closed his eyes and said a Hail Mary, and every desperate deep throw since has carried the name. Drawn here from the 45, because the diagram ends at halfway.
