About this play

Dennis Bergkamp's goal at St James' Park in the Premier League in March 2002. Robert Pires passes in from the left with Bergkamp's back to goal and Nikos Dabizas tight behind him. Bergkamp flicks the ball round one side of Dabizas, spins round the other, and finishes past Shay Given. It works because the defender commits to the side the ball goes, and the first touch takes both the ball and the striker past him in one movement.
