Screen readers now hear the runs in a play
- canvas
- accessibility
Every play on the canvas has a written description for people using a screen reader: how many players are on each side, who has the ball, where each one stands and who runs. The last part was broken. For any play drawn by dragging players, it said there were no runs at all, and described each runner as standing where their run finished.
So a coach listening to a play heard the end of it, with nobody going anywhere. That is fixed. The description now says where each run starts and where it goes:
Our number 3, in the middle, on the left, runs to near the goal, on the left.
A decoy run, out and back to where the player began, is described as one, and a short run that stays in the same part of the pitch says so rather than "running to" the spot it started from. A player you placed and never moved is still not counted as a run.
The same description is what a play shared at /p/… offers anyone who cannot see the
pitch, so shared plays are fixed too.
